Healthy Homemade Chocolate Bars

These healthy homemade chocolate bars are naturally sweetened with honey and so easy to make with just a few ingredients. Forget the 6$ expensive chocolate bars. You could make these homemade ones for a fraction of the price and will be much better for you!

Healthy homemade Chocolate Bars

The Ingredients

  • Cocoa butter

  • Cocoa powder

  • Honey

  • Sea salt

  • Vanilla extract

Tools

A double boiler (or makeshift double boiler)

A candy thermometer (not necessary but helpful to make crisp chocolate)

The Steps

With a double boiler (or saucepan with a metal mixing bowl that just fits in the top), melt the cocoa butter, stirring occasionally. Once the cocoa butter is melted, pour the melted cocoa butter in to a room temperature mixing bowl.

Once the melted cocoa butter’s temperature gets to 90F (keep watch!), add the cocoa powder, honey, sea salt, and vanilla. whisk gently until mixed thoroughly then pour immediately in to a chocolate bar mold.

Leave the mold at room temperature until the chocolate is solid.

If you don’t have a candy thermometer, you can simply add the remainder of the ingredients to the melted cocoa butter and place in the freezer to harden - however, the chocolate might become soft at room temperature and therefore you will need to keep the chocolate in the freezer. It tastes exactly the same and I’ve done this plenty.

Substitutions

You can substitute maple syrup for the honey. I’ve tried this recipe with coconut sugar and I didn’t like it - the coconut sugar separated and sunk to the bottom while leaving a grainy texture to the chocolate.

I wouldn’t recommend any other substitutions
